World Refugee Day: Moody’s Commitment to Humanitarian Relief

At Moody’s, we understand the role the private sector can play in aiding communities in times of crisis. On World Refugee Day, we’re pleased to share that Moody’s has signed the International Rescue Committee’s (IRC) letter calling for private sector collaboration to address the growing refugee crisis. The IRC is doing tremendous work across 40 countries to help refugees survive, recover and rebuild their lives, and we’re proud to partner with them on many of our crisis response campaigns.

These campaigns focus on providing emergency funding to support relief and recovery efforts for humanitarian crises and natural disasters around the world. In addition to donations from the Moody’s Foundation, we offer a double company match made by employees to select crisis response campaigns and empower them to vote and decide on the deployment of any remaining crisis funds at the end of each calendar year.

Over the last 18 months, the Moody’s Foundation and our employees, through our matching gifts program, have donated $1.3 million to support humanitarian and natural disaster responses around the world. This resulted in $1.27 million going toward supplies and resources for Ukrainian refugees and other relief efforts, and over $62,000 toward earthquake recovery efforts in Turkey and Syria.

As our world continues to face pressing challenges, we remain committed to doing our part to help those who need it most.
