Using less, recycling more
The steps we’ve taken over the years to operate sustainably across Moody’s are paying off. Now we’re getting even more ambitious in how we conserve natural resources and reduce our impact on the environment. And our employees are leading the way.
Our revised Environmental & Sustainability Policy sets the tone and direction for these efforts, such as accurately measuring our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promoting reuse, recovery and recycling of materials in Moody’s offices. We’ve also adopted a purchasing program that considers the environmental practices of our suppliers and contractors, and we are updating our vendor code of conduct to reflect our environmental values.
Established in 2017, our Environmental Task Force helps create opportunities for employees to become directly involved in advancing sustainability. Members communicate progress and crowdsource ideas for reducing our footprint even further. One example is our new Paperless Ratings Committees — an initiative that will dramatically reduce our paper use moving forward.
Last year we also set benchmarks for measuring our GHG emissions and reported our results to CDP for the first time. It’s another step in our ongoing push to better disclose, manage and reduce emissions.
